Meet Kelly

Meet Kelly Fleming, Registered Physiotherapist (Orthopedic and Pelvic Health) and founder of Northern Pelvic Connection. Northern Pelvic Connection was founded in 2023 after Kelly moved to northern Ontario and recognized a shortage in physiotherapy services, particularly in the area of pelvic health. While she is Manitoulin Island’s only pelvic health physiotherapist, Kelly also provides comprehensive, whole-body care—assessing and treating a wide range of injuries and musculoskeletal conditions beyond her pelvic health specialty.

Kelly is passionate about meeting the physiotherapy needs of individuals in under-serviced areas of northern Ontario. She is equally committed to creating sustainable access to care across remote communities by offering virtual services throughout Ontario. Virtual care helps reduce common barriers such as travel distance, inclement weather, childcare, mobility limitations, illness, demanding work schedules, and the sensitive or often stigmatized nature of pelvic health concerns.

A graduate of the University of Toronto and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, Kelly has been working in private practice since 2017, with nearly a decade of experience in orthopedics and sports injury rehabilitation. She has pursued extensive professional development in areas including urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, pregnancy, labour and delivery (doula), postpartum care, pediatric pelvic floor dysfunction, and men’s pelvic health. She is rostered to perform acupuncture and qualified to conduct internal pelvic examinations. Kelly has also had the privilege of working with First Nations individuals in their home communities on Manitoulin Island and has completed additional training in culturally safe and trauma-informed care. She values delivering thoughtful, high-quality physiotherapy and is committed to equipping her patients with the knowledge and tools they need to confidently manage their health.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialized type of physiotherapy that helps with concerns such as overactive bladder (urinary urgency, frequency, nocturia), incontinence (leakage), prolapse, pain (with sex, pelvic, low back or hip), constipation, bedwetting, urination difficulties, premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. Pelvic health physiotherapy can also help pregnant persons prepare mentally and physically for birth, help new moms rehabilitate optimally postpartum, help individuals navigate menopause and help one prepare for and rehabilitate from abdominal or pelvic surgery (e.g. vaginoplasty, hysterectomy or prostatectomy). Treatment plans are individualized, holistic and tailored to your specific needs, and commonly involve exercises involving the pelvic floor, lifestyle interventions and education, manual therapy, modalities and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
